DREAMS TO PERSUE
Saint said even if the mountain has falling rocks we will keep on climbing.
Interview :
What first got you into music?
Well I think I was born for music because my mother was a vocalist back in her teenage days, she used to sing and also she participated in the church choir. My father was a Dj he had a program on radio whereby he played his tracks so the love of music I got it from my parents and the characteristics of my parents started to kick in when I first listened to J.cole's album "The Warm Up" that's when I realized that I could actually write my own lines but back then I was 12 so I didn't take it seriously like now.
Who inspired you to make music?
Well my main role model Jermaine Lamarr J.cole I might say, my cousin, Prince Whyte and my parents obvious.
How would you describe the music that you typically create?
Well I'm in a band ( trio ) and I can describe the music we make as a beautiful struggle cause we are attempting to achieve something and that something is entering the industry and catch the ear of the people in South Africa. Even though we make trap music, our concepts are deep and the message we convey is totally different from other trap artists because we are telling our own stories and things surrounding us instead of flexing and flossing in a way you can call it rap.
What is your creative process like?
From the beat to my notepad I can tell whether I'm going to write a sad or a bang. My creative process ain't easy because I sometimes feel like I could just get deep but I'm scared of hurting others. So as the Team we work together and build a song from ground zero to your ears.
Who would you most like to collaborate with?
My second Idol A-reece but we as The Neighbourhood Trap we are intending to collaborate with mainly Emtee , Yanga Chief , Nasty C , J Molly and whoever that is willing to collaborate with us.
If you could go open a show for any artist who would it be?
Prince Whyte
What is one message you would give to your fans?
Stay true to yourself and accept whatever God has given you because nobody knows the little you have might turn into something big ohh and we appreciate your support, continue climbing this mountain with us, even though rocks are falling on top don't let go because we as The Neighbourhood Trap won't. We have perseverance and we will persevere even if the journey to the top starts to get ugly hope is there.
What is the most useless talent you have?
Playing Soccer
Do you sing in the shower? What songs?
Yes I do and every time when I'm bathing. A-reece and J.cole songs mainly Reece Effect album , Gone are the days by A-reece, Back to the topic, Let Nas Down by J.cole and freestyles including our songs.
My parents predicted that I will become a successful dentist and I admit that I had a little passion for dentistry so yeah I would be pursuing my parents dreams.
Where have you performed? What are your favourite and least favourite venues? Do you have any upcoming shows?
I have Performed at Miss Ndlovukazi and local small shows. Yes The Neighborhood Trap and I have an upcoming Live Show it's not finalized yet but we intend on doing it on August.
How do you feel the Internet has impacted the music business?
Well the internet has impacted the music industry in a positive way that it made things more simple, especially for Artists to sell their music and for fans to get music of their favorite artists through downloading instead of selling Copies ( CD ) from music shops and the streets like the olden times. Artists just post their music on the Internet then market it easily like that. So the internet has made it easy for us artists to market our music.
How has COVID-19 affected your movement?
The global pandemic has slowed down my movement because I was supposed to perform in Miss Schools Eastern Cape and at a birthday party of a close friend. The virus has slowed down my process and it has affected it in a negative way.
What is your favourite song to perform?
Hallelujah
Which famous musicians do you admire?
I have three musicians which I admire but I will go with A-Reece.
What is the most trouble you’ve ever gotten into?
Kissing my ex girlfriend inside the school premises. The educators made it to seem as if it's a big deal hence it's not even written down on the school rules, the school headmaster gave me a hot clap, and by that time my love for school ended, I literally hated school and educators along.
What is the best advice you’ve been given?
Through all the advices I receive almost everyday, there's a different advice I was given by another aged neighbor he over heard me telling my cousin sister's friend that when I have blown and become a well known artists I'll make a change in my hood and one day buy a car for her and then the neighbour intervened and told us he likes what I'm saying and he also told me that there are few ambitious teens in my hood I'm still young so he likes what I'm saying and told me to hold on the dream that I'm pursuing and be strong cause it will work out for me and if however I need anything I must tell him, he used to be a Principal.
If you could change anything about the industry, what would it be?
Nothing really rather than introducing new music, our music maybe that would be the change because everyone who tried to cause change in the industry ended up failing and others joined what other artists have been doing either way they say "when you in the Romans territory you do what the Romans do".
What’s next for you?
Blowing up and becoming the better artist I want to be , An International Artist.
Prince Whyte
I always thought soccer was passion but I know you'll do good in music regardless
